Sometimes God needs to dangle a carrot in front of us so that we don’t quit the race.
This blog post is all about faith and hope. It’s got nothing to do with floating devices or the fruit-flavored candies that were very popular, many years ago.
Imagine, if you will, you’re out of a job. Come Friday afternoon you get a call letting you know about a job interview on Monday morning. That awesome news, that incredible news, is all you need to know to have a great weekend, put all your worries on hold, feel God is in your corner, and give your family a well-deserved break from your mood swings and increasingly bad temper.
When the alarm goes off on Monday morning, you’ll feel full of life and with the energy of a CrossFit athlete. You’ll go to your job interview and you’ll bring your "A" game with you. After dazzling the interviewers you’ll return home with a smile painted on your soul. A few days later you’ll get not-so-great news from the prospective employer: They made their decision, and it wasn’t you. What happened? Didn’t you get ready for the interview? Didn’t you dress properly? Did you pick your nose?
None of that. That job was never meant for you. That job interview's sole purpose was to keep you going until the job God had reserved for you would arrive. A Sugar Lifesaver is a ray of sunshine to make a dark day brighter. A snack for your soul until lunchtime is served. Behind every Sugar Lifesaver is the voice of God telling you: "Don’t lose hope, not even for a second. Just hang in there, we’re almost where we need to be. I didn’t give you the gift of life, just to abandon you later on. I’m part of your existence as you are of Mine. Cheer up!" ☼
