Negative energy a.k.a. Dark Slime is on the prowl. Show it who’s boss!
Just because you had a very productive workweek and most satisfying weekend, no guarantee comes Monday morning you won’t feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. All of a sudden your hopes, dreams, and plans seem to disappear in midair, only to be replaced by this gray and cold emptiness, devoid of light and hope. It’s a place where enthusiasm and positive attitude wither and die.
Why does that happen? I have this crazy theory about the negative energy in the universe being able to sense when you’re about to reach an important goal, so it automatically throws a monkey wrench in your plans to keep you from succeeding, from growing, from taking a step forward. Where did all the energy, drive, and enthusiasm go? Well, I think they are where they’ve always been, except that now they’re being suffocated by a few layers of thick and toxic negativity, that I like to call Dark Slime, or DS, for short.
In my case, when I feel the DS has me in its crosshairs, I start by standing in front of a mirror and saying out loud: “Let me tell you something, DS! I’m not giving up, today. Maybe I’ll call it quits, tomorrow, but not today.” I know it sounds silly and simple, but it’s a mantra that works for me. It’s not a magical solution and for it to work must be combined with a daily routine that keeps your mind and body active. It’s all about putting together a schedule where even the downtime is planned.
And now comes a very realistic part. Since the DS has got you in a chokehold, you’ll fight your to-do list, tooth and nail. I get that. But hear me out. If you cross off at least one item of your checklist every day, you’re on your way to defeating the DS. Don’t forget to include the following items in your plan: sunlight, fresh air, and staying in touch with those who care for you. They have a way of poking holes in the DS layers, allowing your inner light to shine through little by little. “Never give up, never surrender!” ☼
